friday ramblings

hey there

this is probably going to be the most random post you've ever read
just a warning

let me start by telling you about my manicure that i got yesterday.
you might know, i have been in colorado for about two weeks. in these past two weeks, my nails grew to a gross length. i'm talking i couldn't even type on my key board because they were so long.
it was terrible.
awful.
yesterday, i finally convinced my mom to take me to get my nails done.
i usually pick a "classic" color, like light pink or a new essie color. but, i decided to do something a little different.
let's call it "the new year bug"
i went red!

i literally can't remember the last time i painted my nails red.
wait, actually i take that back. i remember sitting on my back porch when i was in second grade trying to paint my nails red.
it was an utter disaster. i faintly remember the nail polish spilling everywhere, and having polish all over my nails.

but let me tell you, this was one of the best manicures i have ever had! the lady doing my nails was so precise and the polish looks great! not only was my lady great, but she massaged my hands twice. TWICE.
aaanddd she used a hot stone. you know, like the ones you see in magazines on peoples backs?
also, when my nails were drying a lady that worked in the salon asked me if she could give me a back massage.
usually i would've declined her offer because i used to be weird, but because it's the new year and all i let her give me a massage.
it was amazing.
the place i go to in kentucky doesn't even massage my hands..

let's see what else is new....

oh yeah, two days ago my brother and i decided that we didn't want to do anything all day except cook. we decided that we wanted to cook dinner for our daddio
so of course, the first thing we did was head over to pinterest and find some yummy looking dishes.
(i'm not going to lie i just forgot how to spell dishes)
we picked out a chicken parmesan recipe from Kraft, some asparagus, and some baked brie for an appetizer. all the dishes were beyond amazing. if you're planning on having or going to a party soon i totally recommend making baked brie with cranberry sauce and walnuts on top! it's super easy and super yummy.
i'm embarrassed to say this, but my family of four ate the entire circle of brie.

tonight my brother and i are making french onion soup and then for dessert we are going to johnny rockets for milk shakes! i can't wait.

winter nail trends!

nail polish is one of the best accessories
- the fact that you don't have to take it off at night makes it all the better -
when the colder weather starts rolling in, we have to start covering up more and more, which means bracelets and necklaces go into hiding.
but when the gloves come off we need something to show off so nail polish is the definite solution.

i've compiled a set of six nail polishes that i think are going to be popular this winter

1. essie's beyond cozy : i have this shade on my nails right now, and it is one of my all time favorite colors. i promised myself that i wouldn't buy any more nail polish, but i will definitely be buying this color soon! it's the perfect blend of silver and gold which is super festive and girly. also, i always chip my nails within one or two days of getting a manicure but this has lasted a week without chipping!

2. Butter London's Gobsmacked : Glitter is obviously always a trend around the holiday season so why not mix it in with black. It's a super subtle way to stay on trend. And the black goes with everything! Love it!

3. Deborah Lippman's Modern Love : Nude's are always in style, but this winter they are going to be all the rage. I like this shade because it had a kind of pinky/salmony under shade. Super cute!

4. OPI's Live and Let Die :  Again, this is a glitter color but it's very understated because it's a darker color. I like how it has a blueish green tint to it! It's kind of winter-y mermaid-ish.

5. Essie's She's Pampered : I love this color! Reds are a huge holiday color, and I personally think this is the perfect shade. I like dark reds, but sometimes they can look a little grandma-ish. This brighter shade is very cute and also very sophisticated. Plus, you can wear it during the summer too.

6. Butter London's Dodgy Barnett : I love this color! It's very winter-esque because it's grey with blue undertones which reminds me of snowflakes! It's also apparently "holographic" so if you're into that sort of thing, then go snatch this shade up!

What's your favorite winter nail polish/color?
Do you have any of the polishes mentioned above?

fall swap goodies!

i had had my eye out for a while, looking for a swap. i couldn't find one anywhere, but was sooo desperate to do one! i love receiving gifts, but buying gifts for other people is much more fun for me! when i found neely's fall swap, i didn't hesitate to sign up! i was lucky enough to be partnered up with amber from my three bittles! it turns out that we have a lot in common, so shopping for her was pretty easy! i guess shopping for me was pretty easy too, because i love absolutely everything she picked out for me!!

with out further ordieu, here's what amber was sweet enough to get me!

the overview!

i thought it was pretty funny that she sent it in a pampers box!

from top left clockwise
1. some school supplies! i had been needing some new locker magnets, so these are perfect! the pens are super super cute, and i love all of the notepads/calendars!
2. the candle is apple cinnamon flavor, and it smells so good. i can't wait to burn this in my room!
3. a cute little mug! she put little notes on almost everything! this one says "cuz sometimes you just need a good cup of coffee", which is 100% true!
4. a cute little own statue! i love owls, and it looks great on my bookshelf in my room! this note says "cuz owls are just cute"

1. body relaxants! i definitely have been needing this recently, and i can't wait to try this out in the very near future!
2. the cutest plaque ever that says "laughter is the best medicine". i hung this on my closet door!
3. fuzzy socks. these are blue and white stripes, so they are perfect;) also they are super soft and comfy, and i love wearing these around the house when it's cold outside!
4. a bag tag that says peace out! isn't it cute?? "cuz sometimes you just need to tell the world peace out and enjoy some you time"-- so true

(sorry these pictures are so dark)
1. headbands -- these are the material of the hair ties that don't crimp your hair! these actually stay on my head, and i can't wait to wear them to school!
2. CANDY! as soon as i opened the box of candies, my mom came into my room and stole the peanut m&m's. and i might almost be done with all of the candy.
3. nail polish! i have been needing a red nail polish for the longest time, and absolutely love the color she picked out! i also love love love grey nail polish, and i don't have a dark grey so i'm so happy to add these two polishes to my collection!!

if you have never done a swap before, you totally should! even if you only do it one time! it should be on everyones blogger bucket lists;)
i just want to say thank you again to amber, i absolutely LOVE everything!

nails are the best accessory

when a new season approaches, i always find myself googling the nail trends for that season! i only seem to find the rinky-dink sites that say "neon puke is the hottest color for fall". obviously i don't want to wear neon puke on my nails, and i would hate for more lazy people like me to search really hard just to find what the latest nail trends are for this fall! i've put together a little set of what i think the biggest nail trends this fall are going to be! i can't wait to go out and buy new polishes for my every growing collection!

1. turquoise by bobbie brown -- even though this is a brighter color, i really think turquoise is going to be a biggie for fall! it's a little throwback for the summer shoreline.
2.  deborah lippmann's boom boom pow -- first of all the name is adorable! gold is going to be hot hot hot, because it matches the fall leaves, and it also matches what i always imagine the moon to look like on warm fall nights! also, it's a big college color so be sure to wear this one on game day!
3. YSL's blue cobalt -- i think navy is always a big fall/winter color because it's really dark without having to go black. it's also the unlimited prep color,  you can never go wrong with navy!
4. essie's ballet slippers -- light pink polish is my go to for any season, because it always matches what you're wearing. i think it's perfect for fall, because it's so feminine and cute while your clothes might be looking a little bit less dainty.
5. ulta's una concrete grey -- concrete grey is definitely going to be a hot color! i think it's a little bit edgy without going overboard! there are also so many different types of grey which can be used in this category as well! i even think a grey based purple could work into the fall time, because it puts a little twist on the plain grey.
6. butter london's cash pack -- cocoa-ish browns are also a big fall color. i think they're big because they remind us of football and hot chocolate/coffee which are both religiously used in the south during the fall/winter time. i think light brown is adorable and can be very feminine even though it's a more "manly" color.

i hope this helped, and if you have any other colors that you think are going to be hot this fall, then let me know!!

pinterestingly enough, that was a fail

have you ever seen something on pinterest that was advertise as being "super easy to make" or "diy in under five"? if yes, then i feel ya. if not, what pinterest are you using? today, i stumbled across this super hilarious blog called pintester. basically she tries out all the popular repins, and sees how easy they actually are. most of them end up being a complete fail, and she tells you how easy hard these projects actually are. my mom and i have a website together called popcosmo so i get to see first hand how much trouble goes through taking the perfect picture! Sonja does a hilariously great job of showing the "behind the scenes" look at what it takes to get your project to the point of taking pictures!

these are some of my favorite testers..

not only is this blog hilarious, but it reminds you why you never seem to do projects off of pinterest.
it also inspires me to do a post on my pinterest fails.
i'm sure there could be tons of those.

have you had a pinterest fail?

Nail Polish Addict

hi my name's chloe and i'm addicted to nail polish
"hi chloe"

if any of ya'll know where i can find a nail polish anonymous group please let me know, because i have a huge addiction to nail polish!! it's bad! i can't  walk into a cvs or walgreens with out looking at / buying the new collections that are out. the only thing is that I'm a penny pincher, so every time i buy a nail polish that is bad quality or that i just don't like the color of, i get so mad! so ya'll don't have to go through the torment of buying a bad nail polish i've swatched four polishes that i was wary of buying, and showed you all the coats that i applied!
1. essie's ballet slippers -- this color is very very light, but i am in love with it! my go to nail color is light pink and i own at least four different light pink polishes. i was kind of hesitant to buy it because i wasn't sure how sheer it would show up, but i am happy with it! although it is very sheer, i think it is perfect for me because i don't always like to have a "flashy" color on my nails.

2. OPI'S yodel me on my cell -- i received this polish as a gift, and i am so pleased with it! usually i wouldn't go for this polish, because like i said before i don't like "flashy" colors. this polish easily fits into my top five summer polishes though, because it is so beachy! i literally feel like a mermaid when i wear this polish, and it reminds me so much of the movie Aquamarine (if you haven't seen aquamarine, RENT IT NOW!! ). without further or due here are the swatches..

Sinful Color's snow me white -- i think white is one of the hardest colors to find that is actually opaque. in the bottle white nail polish always seems to look perfect so we end up buying it only to discover that it is sheerer than sheer. i was in need of a good white polish so i bough this sinful colors one a while back. i'm not sure if it's because it's old or if its just the actually polish, but it seems to have the consistency of WhiteOut (which is gloppy and crusty). although i don't like the consistency, the polish went on really opaque, even just on the first coat!

one and only coat

sinful colors pink-- neon nails are also a hard thing to purchase with out previously trying it out before. neon colors always look so vibrant in the bottle, and then when you go to put them on your nails it seems so much more washed out and see-through. i have been trying to find the perfect neon, and people always say to put a white coat under you nails before using a neon color. i decided to try it out and this is what it turned out like…

first coat with white base
second coat with white base
one coat without white base

i was so shocked with the color when i applied the pink over the white base!!

thanks so much for reading! i hoped this help you with your nail polish collection, and let me know if you would like to see more swatches in the future!!
