i'm on the hunt

if you follow me on twitter
(which you should, cause my tweets are pretty much the best ones out there you should)
you might have seen my tweet today that said :
"if i don't get my hands on this sequined chevron shift dress at francesca's i might cry #notjoking"

first let me back track..
two days ago A Preppy State of Mind posted this picture on instagram :

i instantly fell in love with the dress, and knew i had to get my hands on it. no matter how much it cost.
well i, along i with many others, commented on her instagram picture asking where her new dress was from. she commented back, and let us know that it was from francesca's collection and only $56.
francesca's collection. $56.
wait what? did i read that right?
luckily enough, i was at the mall helping my mom pick out a new pair of glasses, when she commented that it was from francesca's. i dropped everything and ran the heck walked out of the glasses store to get my hands on this dress.

after a long search for this dress, i found it. in the sale section. because the entire back of the dress was ripped.
just my luck.
but i reluctantly tried it on anyway to see how it ran size wise. it was a size small, which was way too small.

right when i got home from the mall, the first thing i did was log on to my computer and hit up francescas.com. unfortunately for me i couldn't find this dress anywhere on the website!
because i want it SO badly, i e-mailed customer service and asked them when they were getting the dress back in stock. here's what they sent back to me this morning:

Good Morning!

Thanks for your inquiry, unfortunately if you do not see it on the website then the item is currently unavailable.  We are unable to determine when it will become available again. Please feel free to browse our website periodically for availability and check with your nearest Francesca’s Collections boutique and they would be more than happy to perform a nationwide store search for you.

Warm regards,

Theresa Hernandez

yesterday, at the store i couldn't even get the girls working there to help me find the dress. i don't think they are going to want to help me perform a nationwide store search for me, theresa.
nice try theresa, nice try.
but theresa did remind me that there is another francescas in my town, so i called them up and asked them if they had the dress. THEY DID! i even think it's my potential size! i asked them to hold it, but they can only hold it for 24 hours. I am going on a quick trip out of town tomorrow to visit a doctor and today i had a bunch of school work (virtual school work hehe), but i will be going to this mall on friday. so that means tomorrow i have to call the store up and ask them to hold my dress for me again, so no one else buys it in the mean time, because it's THE last one they have left. in the world. (i'm exaggerating, but still)

so, because this dress is sold out everywhere, i'm guessing it's going to be another trendy item! i usually don't like trendy items, but this is an exception. i need it, and i need it now.

how many times did i say francescas?
have you seen/heard about this dress?

thanks for reading!

weekend recap -- bro's bar mitzvah weekend

this past weekend was my brother's bar mitzvah weekend! we had all our family come in town to celebrate the festivities, and i had a great time seeing everyone! today i'm going to show y'all a little photo recap, because there was SO much going on that i would have to write a novel to share everything with you and by the time you finished reading it your eyes would hurt and you would never come back to read my posts (which neither of us would appreciate)

instead of a novel of words, i'm going to give you a novel of pictures --
(warning, my cheetah dress makes it's debut in a lot of these pictures)

friday morning my mom and i walked over to the nail salon. i got a manicure with essie's beach party. its literally the perfect peachy nude color, so if you're in the market for a good basic nail color i recommend this one!
next, my brother, dad, and i went to the airport to pick up my grandmother and her boyfriend (although they hate me saying boyfriend haha). her flight was a little bit delayed so we had a photo shoot in the airport. i live in kentucky, so it's normal for there to be a random colonel sanders (of KFC) in the middle of the airport.
it's also normal for there to be a random horse a jockey statue in the airport.
random stuff goes down in kentcuky!
my family was staying at this awesome hotel in town, and by the elevators there is an interactive wall. that rains letters and land on your shadow/refleciton! it's so awesome I made my dad take a picture with me!

this is my cousin's and me at my brother's friday night dinner! he had a special drink made for him that i like to call "jewce" (get it? juice with a little touch of jew? i know what you're thinking, that  i'm hilarious and clever and witty, but i already know that because i get it all the time... not)  my cousin's and i had a blast at dinner, because us "older girls" got our own table outside of where the rest of the family was because there wasn't enough room, which was fine by us!

saturday morning there was a brunch at my house, and my cousins and i walked over to the thrift store that i talked about in one of my recent posts. we didn't find anything cute so we tried on these hides tops! they don't look too bad in the picture but it's out of focus, so you have to trust me on how bad they were!

saturday afternoon, my other cousin from nyc and i went out to the driving range.  she is literally the most athletic person i know, and since i play golf we went to see if she could pick up the ropes (catch the ropes? i'm not sure how that saying goes, but i tried). it turns out she can play every single sport naturally, but golf is one she is going to have to work at!

this is a random story, but this is a picture of the mumford and son's concert where i live! all those little ittie bittie dots are people watching the concert.
side note- my grandma is a talker. she literally could talk to a brick wall and learn each brick's life story. i'm not even kidding. she will talk to any person no matter what they look like and no matter how old they are.
so anyway, i drove to pick up my grandmother and her boyfriend from their hotel to bring them back to my house, and they were talking to this random guy outside of the hotel while they were waiting. when they got into the car i asked them who they were talking to, and they responded "someone from mumfry and something band i think". at first i thought they were just talking to a small band's member. but then i asked if it was a mumford and son's band member, and it was! how cool is that??
if you've never heard of mumford and sons you have to check out there music! i absolutely love every single song that they have made! click here and here to hear a good one!

so that concludes my little weekend recap. there was a ton more stuff that went on, but i think you've seen enough for now!

did you have a fun weekend?
have you heard of mumford and sons?

thanks for reading!

what to wear to a music festival

i honestly am one of the most unmusical people i know. i don't have ny rhythm, i can't sing, and don't play any instruments (even though i've tried countless times). with that being said, there was a music festival in my town this weekend and i loved seeing what everyone was wearing. even though i didn't go, i did get to drive by and i have also seen pictures on Facebook. although music festivals usually attract people with completely different styles than what i wear, i still look up to what "music festival goers" wear! i've decided to put together a little look book of what i would wear to a music festival if 1. i go to one in the future and 2. if i stepped out of my comfort zone and wear something other than a navy and blue striped t with chinos.

this look is definitely more in my comfort zone!

flea market swag

today my family hauled ourselves to the flea market in my city's downtown. i had never been before, and was really excited to check it out! there were about thirty different booths, including food, and they were all super cool! i love going to flea markets, because the people that go are really cool and have great style and because you can get some great deals. also, you can find some really cool handmade items! i think i racked up, and didn't put too much of a dent in my wallet, which is always good! anyways, here is what i purchased!

the first thing i got was this super cute pirate key chain. i have no idea why, but i think anything pirate is super adorable. also, when/if i get my own set of car keys (hopefully sooner rather than later), i want to have the coolest key chain around town. i think key chains really describe people, and since i'm cool i have to have a cool key chain.
also, this keychain was only $4.
STEAL!

next, i got this super cool wrap-ish bracelet. although i am more preppy, i do have some edgy tendencies sometimes. i also LOVE pink and yellow together, so the pink and yellow skull fits me perfectly. my mom bought this bracelet for me, and it was $15!

this bracelet caught my eye, and because i love the stacking trend i had to add this to my bracelet collection! the cool part about this bracelet is that the clasp is a glittered out guitar pick (which you can't see in the picture). also, this bracelet was only $5.
doesn't get any cheaper than that!

lastly, i got this adorable key necklace. i know that i said above that i love the bracelet stacking trend, but even more than that, i LOVE the necklace stacking trend. i think it's so so cute when you wear layered necklaces! especially when they are all dainty and cute. ugh i want more;)
right now i'm wearing this key one, and a silver hear one.
i will most likely show you a picture of them together soon!
and this necklace was only $10!

as for fashion at the flea market, i saw a TON ton ton of maxi dresses and skirts. and now i want one so badly. so badly. i have one, but it's more of a coverup because it's super see through, but maybe i'll buy a slip soon. any who, this is my attempt at creeper pics of women in cute maxi dresses.
honestly, i wish i could've asked them if i could buy their dresses off of them.
in the most un-stalkerish way;)

do you go to your towns flea market?
do you like the maxi dress / maxi skirt trend?

collective haul!

recently i have been venturing out of the house more. each time i venture out it seems i add an item to my closet! here are my latest purchases..

my grandma gave me this wallet and this bracelet. both of which are super cute!
turquoise is my favorite color, so naturally i'm in love with the bracelet.
sorry you can't see the whole thing, my photography skills were lacking.

on the right is the lilly pulitzer dress that i had been waiting oh so patiently to receive! it fits like a glove , so i'm glad that i didn't cancel my order.
on the left is a pink sweater. i bought this in an XL, because i like when things are big and loose. the material that it's made out of is super light, but heavy enough that it will keep you warm if you need it to.

on the left is a sigg water bottle. they really keep your drink cold. there are also SO many designs to choose from!
on the top right is a pair of wallabies that i got half price at the zappos outlet. i bought these for back to school!
and on the bottom right is a neon neon orange belt from j.crew. i love the pop of color trend, and this orange (surprisingly) goes with a ton of dresses in my wardrobe!

what's your latest purchase?

cupcake wars and fashion advice

cupcake wars:
today my brother and i thought it would be super fun if we made s'mores cupcakes together. since i was allowed to use the oven, we have always loved baking together! we have made a ton of different things, but our specialty is cake pops! i'd like to think we've gone pro in the cake pop industry.
but for these cupcakes, we used betty crocker chocolate cake mix, and just followed the directions on the box. then we thought it would be genius to make marshmallow frosting, instead of putting the marshmallows into the cupcake itself (we did a few tester cupcakes with the marshmallows actually inside to see if we missed out. the marshmallows burned. we didn't miss out.). we used the first frosting recipe we found on google, but we probably should have chosen a different one because our icing ended up not having an flavor. i'm talking no flavor at all. it literally tasted like you're eating tasteless fluff. good fluff though. well as good as tasteless fluff gets...
here are some pictures from our day in the kitchen
...

that's my brother being a goofball in the bottom left corner
and in the bottom right corner you can see the burnt marshmallow inside the cupcake,  quality picture needless to say
