netflix is dangerous

netflix is one of the most dangerous tools invented.
it's the number one fueler for procrastination

yesterday i made the dumb decision to "try netflix out"
but let me tell you, one doesn't just "try it"
one "becomes addicted to it"

lucky enough for me, the main page wasn't working all of yesterday so i didn't become addicted until today

i mean it has 5 seasons of gossip girl & 12 seasons of law and order svu
that's enough tv to keep me procrastinating until summer time

when you first "test the waters" of netflix you get an entire free month
i wasn't sure why they would give you an entire free month of television and movies, but then i discovered it's because people can't just have netflix for a month
it's definitely something you don't ever unsubscribe from

with that being said, i need some movie and tv show recommendations!
i promise i will get at least six hours of school work in each day before i start watching anything

what is your favorite tv series?
what is your favorite movie? comedy? thriller? chick flick? kids&family?

thanks for reading!

ski trip recap

this past week was probably the most fun i've had all year!
being sixteen is supposed to be fun, but mine was sub par to say the least
this ski trip was the best way to end my not so great 16 and start a fantastic 17!

i went to beaver creek with my mom's side of the family and had a BLAST! i have one cousin that is a year older than me and one cousin that is a year younger (hey ellie and gabi ;) ) so we were able to be in the same ski school class!
our trip was planned by our grandfather over the summer time so my cousins and i had a ton of time to imagine what kind of people would be in our ski school group.
we were really thinking one direction would be there, but unfortunately they didn't show up.

on our first day of ski school we had one other girl in our group. she was super super nice but she was 11. we weren't sure if we were bad skiers or if she was really good...
we had so much fun skiing together and just being together, since my cousins and i don't live in the same town!

the next day my two cousins that are my age went to ski school, but i decided to take the day off and relax, so i wouldn't get sick.
(side note -- skiing is the most i've exerted myself in over a year!)
everyone in my family went skiing on this day except for my grandparents so i just hung out with them. we went shopping in beaver creek village.
and when i say shopping i mean that we went into every single store. twice.
i had so much fun with them, and all i bought was a fuzzy north face pullover that says beaver creek on the arm

the next day was my birthday! the big one. seven.
i decided that i wanted to brave the fresh new snow and go back to ski school with my two cousins that are my age
(second side note -- i have seven cousins in all plus my brother that went on the trip. all of my cousins are younger than me so they were in a different group, and my brother is also younger but he snow boards)
unfortunately, i only made it through half the day of ski school because i wasn't feeling too well. i thought i had altitude sickness at first, but i'm pretty sure that it was because i forgot to take my medicine with a big breakfast.
but the half of the day that i went to ski school was super fun! it was just me, my two cousins, and three boys. one boy was taken out of our group though because he hadn't skied in a while. and the other two boys that stayed in the group were a pain. well one of them was a pain, the other one didn't really talk that much!
my cousins and i had an ongoing joke that the boy who got pulled out of our group was probably some super attractive guy but since we never got to see him without his ski gear we will never know. if any of y'all know a ryan from miami though
jokes jokes
but the one that was a pain was an absolute nightmare. he complained about everything, and was just completely obnoxious.
boys boys boys.

the next day i decided that i wanted to stay in and not go to ski school, in case i got sick again. i also didn't want to hurt myself since the slopes were still super powder-y and i'm not that great of a skier!
on this day (the last day) i decided to hang out in the condo for a little while and then i went down to the bottom of the mountain by myself and just take some pictures.
i had so much fun hanging out with myself, since i never really am by myself at home.
is that weird? i think that's weird. whatever.
after my hands started to get a little chilly from taking pictures i went back to the condo to hang out with my poor aunt who hurt her leg skiing the previous day.
because my mom's side of the family is so large i never really get one on one time with my aunts and uncles so it was really nice having some quality "bonding time" with my aunt!
then after my cousins were done with ski school i met them at the bottom of the slopes so we could go shopping together in the village!
unfortunately the cousin that's older than me wasn't feeling so well so she decided to go back up to the condo after we had the best gelato ever!
after my older cousin left the cousin a year younger than me and i walked around the village and took pictures of us with every statue and character (from the parade) we could find!
we made great friends with the characters!!

the next day we all took bus back to the airport where everyone, except my family, flew home. my family is staying in denver until january 7th because my dad works out here. we are probably going to move out here in the near future, which i'm super excited about because one of my all time best friends just moved out here!

here are a few (kind of a lot - sorry)  pictures from the ski trip!

this is my two cousins and i plus our ski instructor, ed.

 the fam-jam
i feel like this would make an awesome christmas/new years card picture except for the fact that we got photo bombed.

these are the characters that my cousin and i made friends with
we saw them probably ten times and we talked to them every time haha
we call the guy on the right the present pine cone guy -- very fitting, right?
 how cool is this instrument?
the guy playing it was from germany i think, but he was absolutely HILARIOUS!

 my two youngest girl cousins!
this is one of my all time favorite photos of us together

i want to thank each and everyone of my guest posters! i really appreciate you helping me out while i was with minimal internet connection!

what did you do over christmas?

what I received for my birthday

i hope y'all had a very merry and cheery holiday season

i am very very thankful for everything I received and had a blast being able to spend my birthday with my mom's side of the family on our ski trip! (post soon to come)

here are my presents in no particular order :

a gorgeous pair of silver hoop earrings
a received these from my grandparents, and i absolutely love them!
they go with everything and i can't wait to wear them they're beautiful

a bauble bar necklace
i have been eyeing bubble necklaces for the longest time and when i told my mom that i was wishing for a necklace from bauble bar, she definitely knew which one to get me!
i'm in love

a gold pair of hoop earrings
i received these from my aunt and uncle and couldn't be happier
i love how they're not seen everyday while still being a classic hoop earring!

 a kate spade phone case
i received this case from my brother and i absolutely LOVE it!
it's just so so cute and ugh
it's on my phone right now, and i don't expect it to come off anytime soon

my big present this year was a michael kors watch from my parents!
my parents gave me all of my gifts before they gave me this one so i was so surprise when they said "wait i think we have one more gift"
(classic christmas story line ;) )
my poor dad had to brave the michael kors store this holiday season and he accidentally got the rose gold watch, so i'm going to exchange it for the gold one!
i love both rose gold and gold watched, but i feel like the gold one is more classic

last, but certainly not least i received hunter boot socks from my cousins! this is my first pair of hunter boots socks, and i can't wait to where them in the snow and rain and if i'm obsessed enough maybe even the sun;)

i also received a target gift card, some spending money, and a pair of madewell pants!

i'm so grateful of everything that i received and absolutely couldn't be happier!

what should i spend my birthday money on?
what was your favorite gift this holiday season?

The Palm Gifts

I recently stumbled upon the cutest online store called The Palm Gifts
This store literally has all your monogrammed needs, for the best prices of all times!
Get ready to find the perfect holiday presents for your friends, your moms, your sisters, and your friend's sister's moms!

I received my items in record breaking time, and they are literally perfect. You should definitely add these items to your Christmas list and/or find gifts for your friends.

I was very kindly sent these two items, and I have to say I absolutely love them. I was sent the soft cashmere feel monogrammed scarf in sassy pink and also the monogrammed cosmetic bag in the color lime.

First of all, I have to say that the monogrammed scarf is my new favorite. I am a scarf addict so I own a lot of scarves, and to say that this scarf is my favorite really does say a lot! It is so soft and so perfect. I love the little tassels on the end. I also wear a lot of navy in the winter time, so the fact that the monogram is in navy is perfect because it matches my entire wardrobe!
This scarf comes in five different colors, fifteen different thread color options for the monogram, and four different monogram fonts.
 How great is that?
This scarf is the perfect gift for all of your friends, because who doesn't love a good scarf in the winter time?
The best part?
It only costs $20.

You read that right, $20!

I was also sent this adorable monogrammed makeup case. As you might know, I'm beyond obsessed with cases. I have a huge collection, and it's starting to become a problem.
A problem that I'm perfectly ok with having;)

Any way, I absolutely LOVE this makeup case for three reasons
1. It's huge :
I have a lot of makeup, and when I travel I like to take a lot with me. This case can fit all the makeup I need and more! It's perfect.
2. It's lined :
If you've ever had makeup spilled in one of your cases that isn't lined, you know how much of a pain it is to clean out. Because, this case is lined I'm ensured easy cleanup if anything should break!
2.5 It has a pocket on the inside:
The pockets makes it easy to reach your most used items!
3. It has a bow on it :
Need I say more? Seriously, how darn cute is that bow?

This makeup case has
Six different color options for the case
52 different bow options
17 different thread colors for the monogram
9 different font options for the monogram.

Can you say "customizable"?
Again, the best part?
It only costs $18.95.
Yep, $18.95!
Buy one for yourself, your mom, your friends, and your mailman!

Aren't these the most perfect holiday gifts?

i got my haircut!

i have always wanted long hair.
always.
i have always had short hair.
always.

recently my hair was the longest it had ever been in the history of me. it was only three or four inches below my collar bone, but that is long in my book! my hair was getting to be really gross and dry though so yesterday i went to my hair place and told the lady that i wanted three inches cut off.
as i've learned in my 16 (almost 17) years of life, haircutters always cut off way more than you ask. i have cried countless times after i've gotten a haircut because i just hated it so much. but this time, even though my haircutter cut off more than i asked, i am in love with my new hair cut. i now have a long-ish bob that sits right above my collar bone.
i think it's adorable, and i will probably keep getting this same hair cut for a while!
my mom says that my hair looks best shorter because i have a rounder face, so this cut does flatter me best!

here's a before picture :

and here's an after picture :

also, i have been having a problem where my scalp is dry and flaky, but also having greasy hair. i asked the lady cutting my hair about this problem, and she asked me if i wash my hair every night. i do because it gets greasy if i don't wash it every night. she told me that washing your hair every night can cause your scalp to get dried out, and it also causes your hair to over produce oils! who knew?! so i will now be washing my hair every other night to keep my hair healthier.

do you always end up going back to the same haircut?
how often do you get your haircut?

p.s. update! i went to francesca's to find the dress i talked about in my last post. they still had it on hold for me, but it was too small! for some strange reason the arms were ridiculously tight, and literally cut off my circulation ha! i guess it just wasn't meant to be with this dress ;)
the search still continues for the perfect winter dress though.

tackling your monogram obsession

i don't know about y'all, but everywhere i turn i see monograms! i am in no way complaining, but now that everyone is monogramming everything it's time to get creative! tumblr and pinterest are both filled with monogramed items so i wanted to share some of my favorite things i've seen with y'all! also, monogramming is pretty expensive, but decals on etsy can easily be found for less than $10!
i recently discovered the etsy store monogramsandmore2 and am completely crushing on everything in the store! Karen, the shop owner, was sweet enough to send me a few of her products. i seriously can't tell you how much i love absolutely EVERYTHING! the quality is better than i've ever seen, the decals are super easy to apply, the prices are great, and there are tons of color choices. quadruple whammy!

here is how i decided to use my decals, and couldn't be happier with how they turned out!

here's everything! can you say cute??

i love the way this monogram looks on my water bottle! its so simple, and so classy at the same time! and i have a habit of leaving my water bottles in class, so this will easily fix that problem!

the little iphone monogram added the perfect touch to my lilly pencil pouch! its big enough to be seen, but still small enough to not take away from the lilly print!

my new kindle case needed a preppy touch, and the monogram decal did the deed!
i wasn't sure if the decal would stick on the leather (or faux leather?), but it seems to be sticking just fine, and i don't think that it will be coming off anytime soon!

i've shown an iphone decal before, and as much as i liked that one, i do have to say i like this one so much better. it isn't too thick so i can easily press the home button, and i don't think that it will leave a sticky residue!

it is required that everyone in my school owns one of these hefty calculators. sometimes when people forget theirs, i let them borrow mine and it is great to know that my initials are always on it so nobody can accidentally forget to return it to me!

if you need some more inspiration, here are some other things that you could monogram!

the lilly agenda : everyone and their mothers now owns one of these (and if you don't, no worries because you can still pimp whatever planner you have out!) so make sure that you don't get your lifeline confused with anyone else's! all you have to do it purchase a monogram decal from etsy and slap it on your planner and voila! you've got yourself a personalized, yet very cute, planner!

hunter boots : this is a little bit more adventurous in the monograming world, but i think when done right monogramming your hunter boots can look super polished and still be fun! who wants to have boring boots when it's raining? i know i don't!

laptop : i am allowed to take my computer to school, and a ton of people have the same computer! i have a shell on my laptop, but a ton of other people have the same color as i do so i needed to add something else to make sure no one else accidentally picks up my computer! when i add one to my laptop i'll either put it on the right hand corner near where the mouse pad is, or i'll put it on the front left or right hand corner!

don't forget to check out the esty store where all of these great decals are from!

are you liking the monogram trend?
what's the coolest thing that you've seen monogrammed?

sleepover movies!

even though summer is starting to wind down, i have just been craving a good movie! i've put together a little list called "sleepover movies" (creative i know, no need to tell me), and they are pretty much my top movies that i've either watched at a sleepover or just with a friend! i think they are all around funny, cute, and sweet which makes the perfect summer/sleepover movie! i honestly don't like watching depressing movies (although i do like reading depressing books -- kinda weird), so these movies are just fun happy ones! i hope you like this list!

let me know your top favorite fun movie! or five, because i've got time;)

jacob latimore

hey ya'll! yesterday my mom and i went to cover the Mindless Behavior concert in my hometown! well technically we were covering jacob latimore. and omg he is amazing! he was one of the opening acts for mindless behavior and we seriously think he is going to be huge! not only does he sing, but he is an AMAZING dancer and he also acts! if you want to see the interview and some of the pictures i took of him during his performance then click here. jacob is honestly one of the most down to earth and sweetest people, and i hope that he gets to live his dream and become a huge popstar!
so yesterday after the concert my mom and i went back to our house to write the article about jacob and get the pictures downloaded and edited. as soon as we got home though, we realized that our power was out. no power means no internet, no light, and no air conditioning. so we hauled ourselves back into the car and headed out to the local coffee shop to get the article written!
when i was at the coffee shop, i felt so official. just doing my thang blogging and such. usually in the movies they perceive bloggers as the type of people that take their laptop to computers and blog, so i just felt so cool;)

anyway, here's my outfit and me with jacob!

sorry its blurry!
my dress is from top shop and my shoes are from the brand cooie
ignore my awkward posture

this is his song called "nothing on me"

what to wear to a music festival

i honestly am one of the most unmusical people i know. i don't have ny rhythm, i can't sing, and don't play any instruments (even though i've tried countless times). with that being said, there was a music festival in my town this weekend and i loved seeing what everyone was wearing. even though i didn't go, i did get to drive by and i have also seen pictures on Facebook. although music festivals usually attract people with completely different styles than what i wear, i still look up to what "music festival goers" wear! i've decided to put together a little look book of what i would wear to a music festival if 1. i go to one in the future and 2. if i stepped out of my comfort zone and wear something other than a navy and blue striped t with chinos.

this look is definitely more in my comfort zone!

workin' girl

hey y'all! i am now happy to say that i am a workin' girl! i am so lucky to working at one of the most popular boutiques in my town! yesterday was my first day, and i was most worried about what i should wear. i had been in the shop multiple times before, and saw that the women working there wore cute/casual clothing so i had a little bit of a guideline. i ended up wearing option #4 from this post, but i wore my jack rogers instead of the sandals. all in all i think it was the perfect look!

i think when most people start a job, it's hard to figure out what to wear if there isn't a required uniform. so i've put together a little lookbook to help y'all out if you are starting a job soon or if you already have a job and are stuck in a rut wearing the same thing over and over. since i'm a teen, i'm only going to show jobs that were a possibility for me to get. and without further adieu here is some inspiration!

1. bakery or snack bar
details here

2. jewelry boutique
(or really any boutique)
details here

3. bookstore/library
details here

4. best buy
details here
i'm hilarious i know;)

hope this helped with your summer job outfits! here are some tips to live by when dressing for the job
-wear flats or very comfy shoes! you are most likely to be on your feet all day so keep your feet comfy!
-carry mints with you! no one likes to talk to, let alone buy something from, someone with stinky breath
-dress appropriately! don't strut around in booty shorts. just don't. it's not professional or cute.
-bring a sweater! some shops stay super cold during the summer, so bring a sweater so you aren't miserable all day long!

for some reason i have always loved hearing what everyone's job is, and i love love love asking people what they want to be when they grow up or if you already have grown up, what is your dream job (or are you living your dream?)
so...
what is your summer job?
what do you want to be when you grow up?
what is your dream job?
