total fangirl moment!

yesterday was thursday. aka throwback thursday on instagram.
my mom has all of my younger pictures saved on her computer, so one day when i was bored i went through them and found a few pictures of me so that i could post them on the upcoming thursdays.
(i take throwback thursday very seriously if you were wondering.)
i found this picture of me in my favorite lilly dress from when i was younger and posted it yesterday :

well this morning i was casually scrolling through my twitter feed when i saw i had a notification. this wasn't a normal notification, this was a notification that LILLY PULITZER REPLIED TO MY TWEET!

ok one second hyperventilating..

yes, i did retweet, favorite, and reply to their tweet. it kind of just made my day week.

just wanted to share my total fan girl moment with y'all!

have you ever had a fan girl moment through one of your social media accounts?

endless summer sale haul!

when i found out that the endless summer sale was going on, i freaked out! recently, i have been obsessing over everything lilly pulitzer (i'm blaming tumblr). my mom thinks that it's just a phase i'm going through, but i told her that i have loved lilly before i even knew what it was (which is true) and that this is really the first year that i have been able to afford it on my own (also true).
i think i showed her who's going through a phase;)
but in all seriousness, i don't think that lilly pulitzer will ever go out of style, and i really do think that lilly pieces are staple pieces!

so without further adieu here is what i picked up from the ESS!

wait, i just have one more thing to say...
i said above that this is the first year that i can really afford to buy lilly on my own, which is true but i really like my money to stay in my wallet. i don't mind splurging on nice things, but i really really think about what i'm buying and i never overspend which i love about myself!
that being said, i only bought two things.

ok, now here is what i bought!!

first of all, how cute is the package it came in?!

somerset dress in hey sailor
original price : $108
sale price : $39

briar skirt in resort white spritz
original price : $98
sale price : $24 (great deal!)

it fits perfectly, and literally feels like i'm wearing pajamas.
if you're in the market for a new dress, i totally recommend this one!

my skirt is in dire need of being ironed, but i am in love with it!
as some of y'all know, i had been eyeing this skirt on Re-Lilly for quite some time,
but i'm glad i didn't spend the extra $$!

all in all, i really like what i purchased. part of me wished that i had bought a few more things, but the other part of me is saying "yay, now you have left over spending money for fall clothes!!"

and because the site crashed, and there was a lot of trouble actually purchasing things, the lilly team gifted people an item! i was lucky enough to receive this keychain, which is to die for!! i think another gift was little shift ornaments!

did you buy anything from the sale?
are you a saver, a spender, or a little of both like me?

lilly's endless summer sale

if you didn't already know, lilly pulitzer's endless summer sale is going on RIGHT NOW! i didn't have much homework yesterday so i went on tumblr, and so an e-card that said...

i thought it was hilarious, but because i didn't know that the sale was going on i shot right over to the lilly site! i of course couldn't even get into the website, but for some reason i was feeling patient. i finally got in after probably 30 minutes of waiting and added one skirt to my "tote bag". i wanted to look around some more so i clicked on the dresses tab. this unfortunately was a bad idea, because i got kicked out of the website again because it was over capacity. i finally got through and ended up buying a skirt for $24 and a dress for $39! i mean seriously, can you say successful day? definitely head on over to the site and hopefully you won't be there with everyone and their mothers!

i ended up buying skirt i talked about here, and i even got it for $30 cheaper than i could've gotten from Rue-la-la (showing that everything truly does happen for a reason)! I also got a dress!

i'll be sure to post pictures wearing what i bought as soon as i get them!!

did you score anything from the sale?

re-lilly

i might be telling some of y'all old news, but for others you're going to love me forever after you read this post!! i recently came across this Facebook page called "re-lilly". it's basically like ebay where people sell their old/new clothes for lower prices, but re-lilly is only a page for used Lilly Pulitzer clothes and homemade items using lilly patterns! how cool is that?! some deals are even better than what you can find when ruelala has a lilly pulitzer flash sale!
today as i was scrolling through the Facebook page, i came across the most adorable skirt ever for $55 that was new with tags!! i mean hello awesome deal, how are you today? unfortunately the skirt had already been sold, but i will definitely keep scanning the Facebook page in hopes of finding another great deal!
i'm seriously in love with this skirt. like i would marry it if i could.
ok, not really marry it, but i would buy it and wear it everyday! and night.
i'm not weird i promise.

honestly, you should be happy that i'm telling you about re-lilly because i could be really selfish and keep it to myself so i have no other buyers to compete with;) but no worries, i'm telling you (obviously)!
here are a few more great finds on the Facebook page right now!

have you already heard about Re-Lilly?
have you purchased from Re-Lilly before?

i posted this picture on instagram two days ago, and ever since then all i have been doing is making binder slips for my followers!

i absolutely love designing these types of things, and i am actually enrolling in a graphic design course at the local college. i am so excited, and can't wait to share what i learn with y'all! but for now i'm just going to show y'all how to make this binder slips so head on over to popcosmo, and i'll teach you how!! if you just can't seem to master the look, then e-mail me at preppydiaries@gmail.com and i'll make some for you, cause i'm just that nice!!

penny pinching prep

i'm officially a penny pincher! as some of you know, i had a job working at a local boutique at the beginning of summer. it was the perfect job for me, because i could walk to the store and the pay was great! i had finished my training and was waiting on a call to tell me what day and time i should come in to officially start working, but i never got a call. it turns out that the store had "unforeseen circumstances" and had to shut down. i am now jobless and broke! in all honesty i think the job would have been kind of boring (but that's between you and me), and i believe everything happens for a reason!

because i don't have a job or money, i have resorted to shopping at thrift stores! i follow @karlareed on instagram, and she literally buys all her clothes from only thrift stores or on super sale, and she is seriously my hero. she showed me that i don't have to buy $500 dollar pieces of clothing to look cute, i just have to buy clothes that look good on my body and suit my coloring!

there is a consignment store near my house, and the other day i decided to hit it up! i literally hit the jackpot! there was lilly pulitzer, ralph lauren polo, and other cute brands! i ended up buying a polo skirt and a lilly dress. they were both had $30 dollar price tags, which is kind of pricey but they were in mint condition! when i got to the register the lady told me that all dark blue tags were an extra 50% off, so i ended up getting the lilly dress for $17! ahh lilly for $17!!! i almost peed in my pants when she told me!
my findings!
the polo shirts didn't fit though :(

the lilly dress (its the kangaroo print)
i styled it will a denim shirt from urban outfitters, which i think adds a really cute touch!

i styled the skirt three different ways!
left : shirt-uniqlo, skirt- polo (thrifted), shoes- jack rogers
middle : shirt-urban outfitters, skirt - polo (thrifted) shoes - jack rogers
right : shirt - otterbay, skirt - polo (thrifted) shoes - jackrogers

if you would like to hear my thrifting tips, then let me know!

have you ever scored at a thrift store?

the lilly locker look

the thing i have the hardest time with at school is keeping my locker neat. i am a really unorganized and sloppy person, and i just can't fix it! every year my friends have an intervention, because it gets to the point where i can't close my locker and i end up being late to class. i've also hit numerous people on the head with my books, because they fell out of my locker when i opened it.
it's a problem, but it's not a problem i'm really willing to fix and there are no "unorganized anonymous" groups where i live.
its kind of fun having a messy locker though, because at the end of the year i rediscover lost things. last school year i found a pair of socks and a cute j.crew sweater (that's just in the fashion category)!
just because i'm a messy person, doesn't mean i don't love my locker to look cute! the easiest part for me to keep looking cute and neat(ish) is the inside of the door! because i'm a lilly lover, i decided to make these ADORABLE little flag type things to hang at the top of the door. i also went on tumblr and found a few cute quotes a pictures. and lastly i went on Facebook and picked out my favorite pictures to put inside!
so here's a little tutorial on how to make the flags! i think that a larger size of these would look absolutely adorable on a wall in your room, or if you're going into college then these are a great way to cover your ugly dorm room walls!

top left -- gather your supplies! you'll need cute paper (i printed 4x6 lilly prints and cute them, but change the size depending on what you're making it for)
top right -- punch two holes on the left corner and two holes on the right corner
bottom left-- punch all your triangles!
bottom right-- measure the lanyard (note, i think ribbon looks cuter, but i didn't have any to match)
p.s. ignore the nail polish, i know its atrocious

top -- weave the lanyard through all the holes!
bottom -- knot of the ends

honestly, this is one of the easiest crafts i have ever made, and it's so cheap yet so so so cute!

finished look if you do two rows

finished look with one row
obviously i didn't put this in a real locker, because i don't have keys to the school. you would probably need to use five triangles across for a real locker though, so plan ahead!

do you decorate your locker?

tomorrow's an exciting day

hey ya'll!! i can't stand when people have a list of excuses of why they've been a bad blogger, because it's ok to miss a few days here and there in the blogging world! that being said, i have been really under the weather lately, because i was put on a new medicine in hope of helping my stomach but it ended up setting me back a few days. i'm going in to the doctor tomorrow though, so I'm hoping i'll come back with good news!
that's not why tomorrow is exciting though!
first of all lilly pulitzer is on ruelala tomorrow, so there's a little heads up! hop on your computer at 11 eastern time, and shop your lilly heart out! if you need an invite just click here! if you purchase anything good, then be sure to let me know what you snagged!
second of all, tomorrow i will be hosting my very first giveaway! as for what it is, my lips are sealed. but trust me, you'll definitely want to check back tomorrow to see what you have a chance to get your hands on!

so that's why tomorrow is an exciting day! which is weird because usually wednesdays aren't all that great.

oh and i just want to let y'all know that i went out to my local video store yesterday (sick and all) just to pick up season one of gossip girl, because caroline over at citrus&style  and signe at significantly styled  just posted about it, and i knew i had to see it! i am IN LOVE! it's such a cute series so far, and i'm really tearing into it. there are five discs in season one with four episodes (at 45 minutes each) on each disc. i'm already done with disc two and i started watching yesterday.
i guess you could say i have a lot of time on my hands;)

don't forget to come back tomorrow to see what special giveaway i have for you!
thanks for reading!
have you seen gossip girl before?

to do lists galore

as some of you know, i have been going through a lot of heath issues lately. that's a pretty weird way to start a post about to do lists, but i just want to let you know that today (which will be yesterday) i went to a pelvic pain doctor, because i have been having extreme extreme stomach pain (which is also called pelvic pain i guess?). anyway i had to get this super intense muscle massage thing on my stomach, and because it was so intense i was given a prescription for muscle relaxers. i took one pill tonight, and although my mom continuously told me that i was acting "loopy" i felt fine. i'm writing this as i'm on muscle relaxers late at night, and with the combination of those two things i just wanted to explain myself if the writing on this post makes (a. no sense and (b. can be described as "loopy"
i'm not going to post this until the morning, so i can go back and make sure i didn't add in any weird stuff, so i'm not 100% sure that this post will actually be posted.

ok anyway..

as summer winds down and school is about to start back up i feel like i have been seeing a ton of peoples to-do lists on twitter, tumblr, instagram, pinterest, and other social media websites. most people's to-do lists are super boring, and just jotted down on a random boring sticky note, so i decided that i'm going to help y'all out and give you some fun sticky note writing material to write on (was that a confusing sentence?). here are a few that i've already made, and feel free to save these to your computer and print them out! if you want a monogramed one, just leave a comment telling me which lilly background or what type of pattern you want, and i'll totally make you a cute to-do list for the great price of free! also, in the comments tell me whether you want the arrow bullet points or the box bullet points.
bee-tee-dubs, if you want one of the ones below with a different print just holler at me (leave a comment)!
oh, and i realize that the "sh*t to get done" to-do lists aren't that classy, but they're funny so deal with it.

4.

5.

if you want me to make you a personalized one
leave a comment like this:
"omg you're the best blogger i know, i'd love a to-do list with the clam jam lilly print, i want mine to have my monogram on it which is cGs, and i'd like the arrow bullet points with the days of the week underneath my monogram! thanks so much!"
also make sure you leave your e-mail address!!

free iPhone backgrounds!

hey y'all! i don't know about you, but i change my iPhone background more than any person i know. the only problem is that i can never find any cute ones that aren't ugly. so i decided to make my own, and i wanted to share my love of making them with all of you!! if you want me to make you one, then just tell me if you want a monogram or a quote. then depending on the one leave the quote or your initials. make sure you let me know which is your last name, though! also, leave your email.  and lastly tell me which lilly print you would like!!

here are some examples of what i can do --

so if you want me to make you a background, then this is what your comment should look like (depending on whether you choose quote or monogram)

monogram
cGs
you gotta regatta lilly print

quote
"chin up buttercup"
getaway garden lilly print

collective haul!

recently i have been venturing out of the house more. each time i venture out it seems i add an item to my closet! here are my latest purchases..

my grandma gave me this wallet and this bracelet. both of which are super cute!
turquoise is my favorite color, so naturally i'm in love with the bracelet.
sorry you can't see the whole thing, my photography skills were lacking.

on the right is the lilly pulitzer dress that i had been waiting oh so patiently to receive! it fits like a glove , so i'm glad that i didn't cancel my order.
on the left is a pink sweater. i bought this in an XL, because i like when things are big and loose. the material that it's made out of is super light, but heavy enough that it will keep you warm if you need it to.

on the left is a sigg water bottle. they really keep your drink cold. there are also SO many designs to choose from!
on the top right is a pair of wallabies that i got half price at the zappos outlet. i bought these for back to school!
and on the bottom right is a neon neon orange belt from j.crew. i love the pop of color trend, and this orange (surprisingly) goes with a ton of dresses in my wardrobe!

what's your latest purchase?

ruelala concierge

as some of y'all know, i ordered a lilly pulitzer dress from ruelala a few weeks back. this was my first purchase from ruelala and i didn't know what to expect! unfortunately, i still haven't received my lilly dress and i have been livid the past few days! i e-mailed the concierge people at ruelala, and even though they are supposed to e-mail back within 24 hours, i still haven't heard from them. so, i just got off the phone with a lady from the concierge of ruelala. i was expecting to have to put on my mean voice and tell the lady how upset i was with everything ruelala. (i say that, but i'm so bad at being mean.. it's a good and bad thing). anyways, she asked me what my problem was and i told her that i still haven't received my dress. she politely asked me what my shipping order was, and i told her obviously. she then noticed that it was my first time buying something from ruelala, and told me that she was so sorry that i hadn't received my item and that they were switching over their system so some orders were way behind schedule. i then told her that i was very upset (in a nice way), and she told me that she was going to add 30 days of free shipping back onto my account and she would allow the lilly dress to be shipped for free, because she was so sorry.
i would just like to say that i am so impressed with how she handled it, and she was so nice! i was not expecting her to do any favors for me, but i am so thankful! i honestly told myself before i called that i wouldn't be ordering anything else from ruelala, but i have happily changed my mind!
if any of y'all are experiencing problems with rualala, definitely take five minutes out of your day to give the concierge a call! it'll be worth it!
also, she said that she felt like the soup nazi from seinfeld, which kind of made me like her that much more.

sorry this was a kind of very boring post!

cheap chic

hey ya'll! recently i have been lusting over some of the new collections that j. crew, lilly pulitzer, and other brands have put out for the summer time. unfortunately i am in high school and don't have a job (yet!, i'm looking), so call me a penny pincher! i absolutely LOVE finding great deals on brand name items and i love finding things that look like they could be brand items! don't get me wrong though, i am all about saving up to splurge on nice things! but, here are some of my latest and greatest finds, that can hopefully save you a few pay checks!

1. most of you have probably seen j.crew's bubble necklace and it is absolutely to die for! the bright colors bring together pretty much any outfit that you have for the summer time! the only downside to the necklace is the price, it retails for over one-hundred dollars! if you search hard enough on etsy, you can really find some great look-alikes and also some great unique handmade pieces. anyways here is the first deal!
find the etsy necklace here
find the j.crew necklace here

2. i am absolutely in love with j. crew's swim suits! they are gorgeous, and i feel like the shapes of them would make any body type look great. they also have multiple styles of swim suits in the same print, which makes for a lot of decision making;) if you didn't know, h&m has by far the cheapest swim suits i have ever seen! not only are they cheap, but they are also very cute. unfortunately i don't have an h&m store where i live, and i don't like to buy swim wear online so i can't vouch for the wear and tear of the suits, but if you know what the quality is like, then definitely let me know! here's the steal..

find the j.crew suit here
find the h&m suit here

3. this summer i have been IN LOVE with the lwd (little white dress). i think it is a staple for every girl to have in her closet, because it can be dressed up or down, and it will never every go out of style! i love love love all of the white lilly pulitzer dresses and would buy every single on in a heartbeat (if i had a job of course). but because i can't afford all/one of the lilly dresses, i have done my research and found that francesca's collection has a bunch of cute white dresses for a reasonable price! here's my findings..

find the lilly pulitzer dress here
find the francesca's dress here

4. sandals are another great staple to have in your closet for the summer time! if you find a perfect comfortable pair, then you are set for the summer time! sandals can be paired with pretty much everything and they too can be dressed up or down! also, when it comes to sandals i personally have a hard time telling whether or not the are "high-end" (although this might just be me), so find a cheap pair that you love, and you'll be set!

find the michael kors sandals here
find the steve madden sandals here

5. once again, another HUGE trend for the summer time is neon. it just ads a pop to your outfit, and always seems to make you look more sophisticated (when worn in moderation). i think every girl should own at least one neon accessory!

find the alexander mcqueen purse here
find the asos purse here

thanks so much for reading, and i hope this will help you save a little mula!
