tips&tricks : skin care

Image- wehearit.com

With the vast variety of skincare products that are available it can be difficult to find the correct product for you. Skin type is a really important factor that must be considered in order to make sure that the correct product is being used. My current skin type is dry, however, it does often change depending on the weather and climate so my skin type is usually oily/combination. It is important to remember that your skin type can change due to a variety of factors such as diet, climate and age.

Oily Skin
This is when the skin is shiny especially in the T-zone. They may also suffer from large pores on the skin and be prone to blackheads and common breakouts. A positive of oily skin is that it ages better than dry skin as the oils keep the skin more plump. Oily skin is more common in younger females. Products that claim to be suited for oily skin will work well and it is important that exfoliation takes place twice and week and using an oil-free moisturiser. In terms of make oil free foundation or powder products will work better on the skin.
Combination/Normal skin
The majority of women have combination/normal skin. combination skin means a slightly oily T-zone with dryer cheeks or dry patches on the skin. possibly large pores on the cheeks and forehead. This skin type has medium pores, a smooth and even texture, good circulation and a healthy colour. With combination it may be required to use additional different products for certain areas.
Dry Skin
Dry skin feels tight, especially after cleansing. you have a tendencies towards fine lines and wrinkles. women of colour may find that there skin appear dull. Heavy cleansers and moisturiser will help. many company's have produced products that are suited for this skin type. exfoliating weekly and using a primer before applying foundation will help to plump the skin as much as possible.
Sensitive Skin
Sensitive skin tend to be thin with fine pores. If you are irritated by the sun or particular products than you make have red patches or blotches on the skin. it can be difficult at times to find the correct products but companies are introducing more products targeted at sensitive skin. Look for mild products that contain no scents

The Palm Gifts

I recently stumbled upon the cutest online store called The Palm Gifts
This store literally has all your monogrammed needs, for the best prices of all times!
Get ready to find the perfect holiday presents for your friends, your moms, your sisters, and your friend's sister's moms!

I received my items in record breaking time, and they are literally perfect. You should definitely add these items to your Christmas list and/or find gifts for your friends.

I was very kindly sent these two items, and I have to say I absolutely love them. I was sent the soft cashmere feel monogrammed scarf in sassy pink and also the monogrammed cosmetic bag in the color lime.

First of all, I have to say that the monogrammed scarf is my new favorite. I am a scarf addict so I own a lot of scarves, and to say that this scarf is my favorite really does say a lot! It is so soft and so perfect. I love the little tassels on the end. I also wear a lot of navy in the winter time, so the fact that the monogram is in navy is perfect because it matches my entire wardrobe!
This scarf comes in five different colors, fifteen different thread color options for the monogram, and four different monogram fonts.
 How great is that?
This scarf is the perfect gift for all of your friends, because who doesn't love a good scarf in the winter time?
The best part?
It only costs $20.

You read that right, $20!

I was also sent this adorable monogrammed makeup case. As you might know, I'm beyond obsessed with cases. I have a huge collection, and it's starting to become a problem.
A problem that I'm perfectly ok with having;)

Any way, I absolutely LOVE this makeup case for three reasons
1. It's huge :
I have a lot of makeup, and when I travel I like to take a lot with me. This case can fit all the makeup I need and more! It's perfect.
2. It's lined :
If you've ever had makeup spilled in one of your cases that isn't lined, you know how much of a pain it is to clean out. Because, this case is lined I'm ensured easy cleanup if anything should break!
2.5 It has a pocket on the inside:
The pockets makes it easy to reach your most used items!
3. It has a bow on it :
Need I say more? Seriously, how darn cute is that bow?

This makeup case has
Six different color options for the case
52 different bow options
17 different thread colors for the monogram
9 different font options for the monogram.

Can you say "customizable"?
Again, the best part?
It only costs $18.95.
Yep, $18.95!
Buy one for yourself, your mom, your friends, and your mailman!

Aren't these the most perfect holiday gifts?

makeup routine with drugstore products!

i'm the first to admit that i'm cheap when it comes to buying makeup! pretty much the only makeup i have bought myself is drugstore makeup.
i have a few high end make up items, but they're only ones that my mom was nice enough to buy for me! (she only buys me things that i absolutely need, but sometimes she's in a giving mood)
Caroline at Citrus&Style  and Signe at SignificantlyStyled  inspired me to write about what makeup i use, because they both wrote about what they used!
also, on pinterest today, i came across the most amazing pin ever! it read : "List of drugstore cosmetics that are duplicates of department store brands"
as soon as a read it i was so pumped, and now i have a whole wish list of new makeup items that i now want to add to my collection!
but for now i'll show you what i use, and also show swatches/what they look like on me!

the very first thing i do is put on coverup! i have some mad under eye circles in the morning, so i first put this under my eyes then if i have any blemishes (let's be honest, i always have blemishes) i use this product to decrease the red-ness/!  (obviously the swatch is before I blend it out! it really does look my skin tone once it's blended -- i promise)

next i add some eyeliner! my eyes are super sensitive, and even those these wet&wild eyeliners are only $1 they don't irritate me!! how awesome is that? i want to get one in every color! i usually stick with the brown for school, but when i'm feeling adventurous i wear the blue (i only wear a tiny bit so i don't look like a nightmare from the 80s)

next i curl my eyelashes!

then i either use maybeline's one by one volume mascara or wet&wilds megalength mascara. both are super great, but i have pretty voluminous lashes already, so i usually wear the length mascara!

and lastly, i put on EOS lipbalm! it smells good and it makes my lips super super soft! this is a great product, especially in the winter when chapped list are an unwanted accessory!

and that's my daily makeup routine before school! i don't like to wear a lot of stuff on my actual face, because i hate feeling "heavy" if that makes any sense!

what's your makeup routine?
what's your favorite drugstore product?

thanks for reading!

ARose186 -- arden is probably my favorite you tuber, because she isn't trying to be something she's not (not that every one on youtube is). she is super quirky, and hilarious. also, she puts her boyfriend in a couple of her videos, and they are literally the cutest couple i have ever seen!

JLovesMac1 -- the title of jarmaine's videos always seem as if they are going to be super boring, but they are all great! she puts her own sense of humor into every video, and her style is great!
meganheartsmakeup -- megan is just an all around perfect girl! she's super sweet and her videos are great! she's only 16 years old, but holds herself as a 20 year old.
meghanrosette -- meghan is HILARIOUS! i love her sense of style, and how she talks about real life problems & gives her viewers real life tips!
sarahbelle93x -- i love how she puts her own twist on all things preppy. she seems like a really sweet girl, she's super funny, and is really good at editing!
thesummerhood -- this isn't a makeup related channel, but i am still in love with it (and the update everyday since it's a collab channel!)

mail haul

one thing you should know about me is that i LOVE snail mail. call me old fashioned, but i think that it's 100times more fun to receive a hand written note in the mail than a boring old e-mail. also, i have signed up for almost every single free fashion catalog that i can find. if you know of some rare ones, help a sista out!

today i got the most fun things in the mail that i have gotten in a while. usually when i get the mail, i only have one good thing and sometimes i have nothing at all. but, today i got a few good things, and i thought i would share them with you!

1. i got a my birch box of the month! i have been subscribed to birch box for about six months, and while it started out great i'm not too happy about it anymore! i feel like six months ago, they had products that i would actually want to try out, and now they have some cheapy-deapy ones. don't get me wrong though, only paying ten dollars a month for this box is totally worth it!!

i forgot to take a picture of the blue thing, but it is a headband that is basically a piece of fabric with a wire hanger in the middle ... i spy a future diy

2. i used to think ll.bean was too much of a "mom store", but let me tell you this, it is not! this catalog was one that i ordered, just so i could have something in my mailbox with my name on it, but i have been pleasantly surprised to find more that one thing that i like in the catalog! ll.bean also has a lot of key pieces for you wardrobe!! here are my favorite looks from this season
