cheap chic 4.0

back by request is another cheap chic post! here are three items of what i think are going to be the biggest trends come late fall and winter time!

1. glitter clutches
glitter is a girls best friend, so why not add it to everything, including fashionable accessories! this gold glitter clutch goes with practically everything, and it's super festive around the holiday season. best part is, you can wear it with a casual outfit or to a very fancy event!

2. everyone knows that knee high riding boots are in style, but now everyone and their mothers owns a pair. i'm talking everyone. so with these short booties, you can still be trendy while still being on top of all the new trends! i think these are going to be a huge trend come december/january (on the non-snow days) so start wearing them now trend-setters!

3. not wearing white after labor day just applies to pants and shoes, not scarves! these super cozy infinite scarves are going to be another big trend! they too, go with every outfit, and make you look and feel very cozy and bundled up!

all in all, these are three great pieces that every one is going to be wearing before you know it! also, they all go with pretty much everything in your closet so that's another reason to buy them!

thanks for reading!

what do you think is going to be a huge trend?
are there any steals that you've found lately?

makeup routine with drugstore products!

i'm the first to admit that i'm cheap when it comes to buying makeup! pretty much the only makeup i have bought myself is drugstore makeup.
i have a few high end make up items, but they're only ones that my mom was nice enough to buy for me! (she only buys me things that i absolutely need, but sometimes she's in a giving mood)
Caroline at Citrus&Style  and Signe at SignificantlyStyled  inspired me to write about what makeup i use, because they both wrote about what they used!
also, on pinterest today, i came across the most amazing pin ever! it read : "List of drugstore cosmetics that are duplicates of department store brands"
as soon as a read it i was so pumped, and now i have a whole wish list of new makeup items that i now want to add to my collection!
but for now i'll show you what i use, and also show swatches/what they look like on me!

the very first thing i do is put on coverup! i have some mad under eye circles in the morning, so i first put this under my eyes then if i have any blemishes (let's be honest, i always have blemishes) i use this product to decrease the red-ness/!  (obviously the swatch is before I blend it out! it really does look my skin tone once it's blended -- i promise)

next i add some eyeliner! my eyes are super sensitive, and even those these wet&wild eyeliners are only $1 they don't irritate me!! how awesome is that? i want to get one in every color! i usually stick with the brown for school, but when i'm feeling adventurous i wear the blue (i only wear a tiny bit so i don't look like a nightmare from the 80s)

next i curl my eyelashes!

then i either use maybeline's one by one volume mascara or wet&wilds megalength mascara. both are super great, but i have pretty voluminous lashes already, so i usually wear the length mascara!

and lastly, i put on EOS lipbalm! it smells good and it makes my lips super super soft! this is a great product, especially in the winter when chapped list are an unwanted accessory!

and that's my daily makeup routine before school! i don't like to wear a lot of stuff on my actual face, because i hate feeling "heavy" if that makes any sense!

what's your makeup routine?
what's your favorite drugstore product?

cheap chic 3.0 (fall edition)

when it comes to fall shopping, i find that everything is sooo expensive! i guess all of the material to stay cozy comes at a cost! but i've found three fall things that are key elements to every girls wardrobe, and they're cheap too!

boots are a must have for the fall time! the tory burch ones are to die for, but i would die if i ever had to hand over that much money for one pair of shoes! the target ones look very very expensive, but are very affordable! i've heard that if you take care of them, that they can last at least three seasons! why pay more than you should?

chunky sweaters are the easiest way to look fashionable, on the days that you really don't want to! they're warm and cozy, but looks super stylish when paired with skinny jeans and a pair of (cheap) boots! the la garçonne sweaters is adorable! call me crazy, but if i didn't know better i would think that the gap sweater was the same as the $415 dollar one!

leather purses are the best way to accessorize! they go with everything, but have warm feel. also, they look great with the right pair of boots!

overall, i think these are great cheap finds, and i can't wait to wear my boots, chunky sweaters, and leather purse!!

whats your favorite fall clothing item/accessory?

re-lilly

i might be telling some of y'all old news, but for others you're going to love me forever after you read this post!! i recently came across this Facebook page called "re-lilly". it's basically like ebay where people sell their old/new clothes for lower prices, but re-lilly is only a page for used Lilly Pulitzer clothes and homemade items using lilly patterns! how cool is that?! some deals are even better than what you can find when ruelala has a lilly pulitzer flash sale!
today as i was scrolling through the Facebook page, i came across the most adorable skirt ever for $55 that was new with tags!! i mean hello awesome deal, how are you today? unfortunately the skirt had already been sold, but i will definitely keep scanning the Facebook page in hopes of finding another great deal!
i'm seriously in love with this skirt. like i would marry it if i could.
ok, not really marry it, but i would buy it and wear it everyday! and night.
i'm not weird i promise.

honestly, you should be happy that i'm telling you about re-lilly because i could be really selfish and keep it to myself so i have no other buyers to compete with;) but no worries, i'm telling you (obviously)!
here are a few more great finds on the Facebook page right now!

have you already heard about Re-Lilly?
have you purchased from Re-Lilly before?

makeover!

i got a blog makeover!! if you came to my blog and didn't recognize it, don't worry i'm still the same person! i can't even begin to explain how in love with my new theme i am. words just won't do it justice, and i don't have a big enough vocabulary to tell you how much a like it!!
ahhh
yesterday my mom told me that she would let me buy a new blog template, but she would only pay a certain price. at first i was like "how on earth am i going to find a cute blog template for under $30". and then i remembered etsy. etsy it literally the best website ever! i bought my blog template from Carrie Loves Design, and i couldn't be happier! carrie, the lady that owns the store, is seriously the sweetest person ever. i bought my blog template yesterday, and then she uploaded it for me this morning. (if that's not great service, i don't know what it) not only is carrie super super sweet, but she self taught herself how to make blog templates! uploading blog templates is hard enough, and i can't imagine her teaching herself how to make the actual template!

all in all, i totally recommend shopping on etsy if you want a new blog theme because the prices are so great!

how do you like my new theme?

penny pinching prep

i'm officially a penny pincher! as some of you know, i had a job working at a local boutique at the beginning of summer. it was the perfect job for me, because i could walk to the store and the pay was great! i had finished my training and was waiting on a call to tell me what day and time i should come in to officially start working, but i never got a call. it turns out that the store had "unforeseen circumstances" and had to shut down. i am now jobless and broke! in all honesty i think the job would have been kind of boring (but that's between you and me), and i believe everything happens for a reason!

because i don't have a job or money, i have resorted to shopping at thrift stores! i follow @karlareed on instagram, and she literally buys all her clothes from only thrift stores or on super sale, and she is seriously my hero. she showed me that i don't have to buy $500 dollar pieces of clothing to look cute, i just have to buy clothes that look good on my body and suit my coloring!

there is a consignment store near my house, and the other day i decided to hit it up! i literally hit the jackpot! there was lilly pulitzer, ralph lauren polo, and other cute brands! i ended up buying a polo skirt and a lilly dress. they were both had $30 dollar price tags, which is kind of pricey but they were in mint condition! when i got to the register the lady told me that all dark blue tags were an extra 50% off, so i ended up getting the lilly dress for $17! ahh lilly for $17!!! i almost peed in my pants when she told me!
my findings!
the polo shirts didn't fit though :(

the lilly dress (its the kangaroo print)
i styled it will a denim shirt from urban outfitters, which i think adds a really cute touch!

i styled the skirt three different ways!
left : shirt-uniqlo, skirt- polo (thrifted), shoes- jack rogers
middle : shirt-urban outfitters, skirt - polo (thrifted) shoes - jack rogers
right : shirt - otterbay, skirt - polo (thrifted) shoes - jackrogers

if you would like to hear my thrifting tips, then let me know!

have you ever scored at a thrift store?

the lilly locker look

the thing i have the hardest time with at school is keeping my locker neat. i am a really unorganized and sloppy person, and i just can't fix it! every year my friends have an intervention, because it gets to the point where i can't close my locker and i end up being late to class. i've also hit numerous people on the head with my books, because they fell out of my locker when i opened it.
it's a problem, but it's not a problem i'm really willing to fix and there are no "unorganized anonymous" groups where i live.
its kind of fun having a messy locker though, because at the end of the year i rediscover lost things. last school year i found a pair of socks and a cute j.crew sweater (that's just in the fashion category)!
just because i'm a messy person, doesn't mean i don't love my locker to look cute! the easiest part for me to keep looking cute and neat(ish) is the inside of the door! because i'm a lilly lover, i decided to make these ADORABLE little flag type things to hang at the top of the door. i also went on tumblr and found a few cute quotes a pictures. and lastly i went on Facebook and picked out my favorite pictures to put inside!
so here's a little tutorial on how to make the flags! i think that a larger size of these would look absolutely adorable on a wall in your room, or if you're going into college then these are a great way to cover your ugly dorm room walls!

top left -- gather your supplies! you'll need cute paper (i printed 4x6 lilly prints and cute them, but change the size depending on what you're making it for)
top right -- punch two holes on the left corner and two holes on the right corner
bottom left-- punch all your triangles!
bottom right-- measure the lanyard (note, i think ribbon looks cuter, but i didn't have any to match)
p.s. ignore the nail polish, i know its atrocious

top -- weave the lanyard through all the holes!
bottom -- knot of the ends

honestly, this is one of the easiest crafts i have ever made, and it's so cheap yet so so so cute!

finished look if you do two rows

finished look with one row
obviously i didn't put this in a real locker, because i don't have keys to the school. you would probably need to use five triangles across for a real locker though, so plan ahead!

do you decorate your locker?

cheap chic 2.0

hey ya'll! i have receive some great feed back on my cheap chic post, and have decided that i will do another one! i have been absolutely loving all the new (and old) collections that have been put out this summer. even though i am in love with them, i unfortunately don't have enough mula to spend on them! so here are a few items that i love, and their long lost (cheaper) twins! hopefully this post will save you a few paychecks!

1. as most you y'all know, color blocking is really in for the summertime. i guess you could say that my style is minimalistic, and therefore i only color block with little things such as clutches! they are such a great way to color block your out fit without going overboard, and when/if color blocking goes out of style, you can still use this accessory in your wardrobe! all in all, clutches are a timeless piece no matter what color you choose!
find the dsw clutch here
find the marc jacobs clutch here

2. maxi skirts are probably one of my newest favorite things. i used to wear long skirts when i was in elementary school (trend setter or nerd?), and so when the maxi skirt trend came out i was reluctant to try it out. but, recently  (yesterday) i randomly started liking them again! i like when they hit right at your ankle so you can still see your shoes, and it also makes you look a little taller. also, some maxi skirts can double as dresses and beach cover ups, so if you find the right one it can be used in multiple ways! all in all, maxi skirts are a great staple piece to go in your closet for the summer time, and can also be a transition piece for the fall time!

find the old navy skirt here
find the eileen fisher skirt here

3. jean vests are hot on the market right now! i honestly think that if you wear them with the right things then they can instantly become preppy. i think that most preppy people are afraid to wear them because they are afraid they look to grungy. i have yet to find one in a store that doesn't look to "masculine" on me, but as soon as i find on that i like, i will definitely be purchasing it! let me know if you would like to see how i would style my jean vest if i had one!
