mixin' it up

i have always classified myself as having preppy style.
lilly pulitzer? check
multiple striped tees? check

buut recently i have been changing up my style a little bit.
i find myself going into new stores and trying new things.
don't get me wrong, i'm definitely still a preppy girl at heart
but i'm starting to add "artsier" pieces to my closet
i don't think it's necessary for me to only dress one style.
i can be preppy & artsy
i will be preppy & artsy

here's what kind of style i'm loving lately :

1/2/3

obviously these outfits aren't the opposite of preppy. in fact they still can be classified as preppy!
i'm not pulling a full 360 on you guys and changing completely who i am, i just don't want to be the "cookie-cutter" version of preppy if that makes sense (not that i ever was;) )
basically what i'm saying is that i can wear whatever i want to wear whenever i want to wear it.
and so can you!
it's ok to be preppy today and artsy tomorrow, you could even be full on hipster tomorrow
that's the beauty of fashion - it represents you!

how would you describe your fashion sense?

  1. I totally agree! I like to have more "classic" clothes with a preppy twist. I'm not your typical polo gal!

  2. While I love love love the cookie cutter prep look I am still more of a "chic" "vintagy" almost Kate Spade if you will look!

  3. I can totally relate with this haha I love having little pieces in my closet that spice up a traditionally preppy outfit... "cookie-cutter" prep can get boring after a while! I love putting a little twist on that style :)

  4. I can relate to this kind of situation! I'm trying to create a closet with more classic pieces, instead of just a bunch of one-time wear pieces. I love the outfits in this post! They're so versatile :)
