endless summer sale haul!

when i found out that the endless summer sale was going on, i freaked out! recently, i have been obsessing over everything lilly pulitzer (i'm blaming tumblr). my mom thinks that it's just a phase i'm going through, but i told her that i have loved lilly before i even knew what it was (which is true) and that this is really the first year that i have been able to afford it on my own (also true).
i think i showed her who's going through a phase;)
but in all seriousness, i don't think that lilly pulitzer will ever go out of style, and i really do think that lilly pieces are staple pieces!

so without further adieu here is what i picked up from the ESS!

wait, i just have one more thing to say...
i said above that this is the first year that i can really afford to buy lilly on my own, which is true but i really like my money to stay in my wallet. i don't mind splurging on nice things, but i really really think about what i'm buying and i never overspend which i love about myself!
that being said, i only bought two things.

ok, now here is what i bought!!

first of all, how cute is the package it came in?!

somerset dress in hey sailor
original price : $108
sale price : $39

briar skirt in resort white spritz
original price : $98
sale price : $24 (great deal!)

it fits perfectly, and literally feels like i'm wearing pajamas.
if you're in the market for a new dress, i totally recommend this one!

my skirt is in dire need of being ironed, but i am in love with it!
as some of y'all know, i had been eyeing this skirt on Re-Lilly for quite some time,
but i'm glad i didn't spend the extra $$!

all in all, i really like what i purchased. part of me wished that i had bought a few more things, but the other part of me is saying "yay, now you have left over spending money for fall clothes!!"

and because the site crashed, and there was a lot of trouble actually purchasing things, the lilly team gifted people an item! i was lucky enough to receive this keychain, which is to die for!! i think another gift was little shift ornaments!

did you buy anything from the sale?
are you a saver, a spender, or a little of both like me?

transition pieces

even though it's still pretty warm outside where i live, summer is coming to an end and fall is about to start! winter is my favorite season and fall is pretty much the start to winter, so i like fall! also, fall fashion is always super cute. i think the hardest thing about fashion is finding a happy medium of clothes between the seasons! i made a few outfits with key "transition pieces" that will help you figure out how to wear your staples into the next season!!

the blue "city mini" skirt by j.crew is literally the most comfortable thing i own! i was talking to a lady that worked to j.crew before i bought it, and she was telling me how versatile the skirt was, because it's great for summer but when it starts getting chiller outside all you have to do is throw some tights on underneath it.

colored jeans were a big summer trend, and i think that the trend will be moving into the fall time as well! all you have to do is throw on a comfy sweater and some boots, and you look polished!

the striped tee is pretty much an essential in every prep's closet. in fact, i think everyone, regardless if they're preppy or not, has a striped tee in their closet. they too go with pretty much everything!

hope this helped you with finding some great transition pieces and how to wear them!
if you want to know where any item of clothing is from, then don't hesitate to ask!

what's your favorite season?

lilly's endless summer sale

if you didn't already know, lilly pulitzer's endless summer sale is going on RIGHT NOW! i didn't have much homework yesterday so i went on tumblr, and so an e-card that said...

i thought it was hilarious, but because i didn't know that the sale was going on i shot right over to the lilly site! i of course couldn't even get into the website, but for some reason i was feeling patient. i finally got in after probably 30 minutes of waiting and added one skirt to my "tote bag". i wanted to look around some more so i clicked on the dresses tab. this unfortunately was a bad idea, because i got kicked out of the website again because it was over capacity. i finally got through and ended up buying a skirt for $24 and a dress for $39! i mean seriously, can you say successful day? definitely head on over to the site and hopefully you won't be there with everyone and their mothers!

i ended up buying skirt i talked about here, and i even got it for $30 cheaper than i could've gotten from Rue-la-la (showing that everything truly does happen for a reason)! I also got a dress!

i'll be sure to post pictures wearing what i bought as soon as i get them!!

did you score anything from the sale?

bleh -- warning : rant post

do y'all ever get in the mood where you know you HAVE to get something done, yet you keep saying you'll do it tomorrow and never do?
well guess what?
i'm in the mood, and have been all summer. i just really really don't want to write my summer reading essays. i love reading, i just can't stand analyzing what i just read / over thinking each book. i got to choose my own books which was great, so i finished them at the beginning of the summer. i know have to write three 800 word essays on my books and just can't even begin to explain how much i don't want to write them.

major ugh.
sorry this is turning into a rant post, but we all have them right?
lets just go with right.

not only do i not want to write my essays, but for the past two weeks i had to go on a gluten free dairy free diet. it wasn't to loose weight or anything, i just have been having severe stomach pain and one of my doctors thought that this diet would help!
it was super hard to not eat any food with those two ingredients, but all in all i think it really helped my stomach. today was the first day that i could start eating gluten, and at lunch i had half of a bagel.
after i ate the bagel i was feeling fine, so my mom brother and i went to the kentucky fair. going to the fair was awful, because the gluten in the bagel started to hit me while we were there! i felt so sick, and i don't plan on eating gluten and dairy again anytime soon.
on the bright side i'll be healthy.
on the downside i'll be hungry for "good" food!

this is completely random, but lately i have been obsessing over etsy! i think it's so cool that pretty much everything is homemade/vintage. i also think its great to shop on etsy because the prices are great, and not everyone and their mother buys from it! i recently stumbled upon this adorable shop called EllandEmm. this store is stocked every once and a while, and the products are beyond adorable and they are also super duper cheap! definitely go check her store out and follower her on instagram and twitter (@jenn5716) so you'll be the first to know about her product updates!!

she has these precious earrings
earrings found here

and she also has these adorable necklaces

find the necklace here

have you been putting something off that needs to get done?
what's your favorite etsy store/product?

to do lists galore

as some of you know, i have been going through a lot of heath issues lately. that's a pretty weird way to start a post about to do lists, but i just want to let you know that today (which will be yesterday) i went to a pelvic pain doctor, because i have been having extreme extreme stomach pain (which is also called pelvic pain i guess?). anyway i had to get this super intense muscle massage thing on my stomach, and because it was so intense i was given a prescription for muscle relaxers. i took one pill tonight, and although my mom continuously told me that i was acting "loopy" i felt fine. i'm writing this as i'm on muscle relaxers late at night, and with the combination of those two things i just wanted to explain myself if the writing on this post makes (a. no sense and (b. can be described as "loopy"
i'm not going to post this until the morning, so i can go back and make sure i didn't add in any weird stuff, so i'm not 100% sure that this post will actually be posted.

ok anyway..

as summer winds down and school is about to start back up i feel like i have been seeing a ton of peoples to-do lists on twitter, tumblr, instagram, pinterest, and other social media websites. most people's to-do lists are super boring, and just jotted down on a random boring sticky note, so i decided that i'm going to help y'all out and give you some fun sticky note writing material to write on (was that a confusing sentence?). here are a few that i've already made, and feel free to save these to your computer and print them out! if you want a monogramed one, just leave a comment telling me which lilly background or what type of pattern you want, and i'll totally make you a cute to-do list for the great price of free! also, in the comments tell me whether you want the arrow bullet points or the box bullet points.
bee-tee-dubs, if you want one of the ones below with a different print just holler at me (leave a comment)!
oh, and i realize that the "sh*t to get done" to-do lists aren't that classy, but they're funny so deal with it.

3.

4.

5.

if you want me to make you a personalized one
leave a comment like this:
"omg you're the best blogger i know, i'd love a to-do list with the clam jam lilly print, i want mine to have my monogram on it which is cGs, and i'd like the arrow bullet points with the days of the week underneath my monogram! thanks so much!"
also make sure you leave your e-mail address!!

booklists, ootds, and manicures. OH MY!

i guess you could say that my school is weird, because each student gets to pick their own three (or more) books to do summer reading on and then all you have to do is answer a few questions about the book (each answer has to be at least 200 words). unlike most schools, where you have a long list of long boring books to choose from. honestly, i'm glad i get to pick my own books. i've mentioned this before, but when i am told that i have to read a book i end up either not really focusing when i read it or just don't read it at all.
anyways, yesterday i went to the bookstore to pick up my books. i have been wanting to read the great gatsby for a while now so that was number one on my list. number two was fifth ave. 5am,  but unfortunately the bookstore didn't have it in stock. i'm definitely going to read it sometime this summer though because i've heard such great things about it, and i'm in love with anything audrey hepburn. next, i picked up divergent. honestly i have no idea what this book is about, but i've heard it was good and my mom wants to read it also. lastly i picked up the hate list.  i have never heard anything about this, but it's so good. i bought it yesterday and i'm already on page 175. granted i'm a fast reader, but right when i got home from the bookstore i started reading it and since then i have been unable to put it down! ugh i love good books, but i hate when they end! i'm pretty sure that's nerd status right there;)
i'll definitely be doing a mini book review of these three books, and maybe i'll just share the questions i answer for my school's summer reading requirement!

and since i've been a pretty horrible blogger this week, i'll leave y'all with some outfit of the day pictures, because i know how much i love seeing other people's!
don't y'all like the head tilt?!

i almost forgot to mention this, but i got my nails done at the salon last week! i usually go about once every two or three months, and i absolutely LOVE going!
except this time i got an evil lady. well kind of. while she was taking off my nail polish.
correction. glitter nail polish.
she took off a ton of skin on my middle finger, because she was rubbing so hard. i literally starting bleeding.
just my luck.
but it's ok, because my manicure turned out well!
unhurt hand
pink polish = knockout pout
greenish polish = absolutely shore

hurt hand/finger
see, i wasn't exaggerating!
i don't think..

what's your favorite summer nail polish color?
what's on your summer reading list?

lotsa lobsta

it seems lately that every where i turn i see lobsters. whether it be on a t-shirt or on a bracelet, they are every where. now don't get me wrong, i'm definitely not complaining. in fact, i'm kind of in love with this lobster trend. i think it is the epitome of preppy and reminds me of everything nantucket (although i've never been ha!). i think lobsters are just super cute, but it a touch punk kind of way. i might now be making any sense, but just hear me out. one of the main reasons i like them is because they are bright red, which makes them classy just like red nail polish. and another reason i like them is because they taste good, my mouth is literally watering while i type this...

now that we've come to the conclusion that i'm a little on the crazy side, here are a few of my latest lobster finds that i'm loving

this lobster bracelet from j.crew is actually from the boy's section, but who cares, especially since it's only $10.50. a j.crew steal in my book. and it comes in two other colors, but like i said before red is classy.
find this bracelet here

toms are one of the most comfortable shoes around, and you're also helping people in need when you buy then which is pretty much the greatest combination. so when i found these to-die-for toms, i knew i had to show y'all!

find these shoes here

i am obsessed with stationary lately, and these definitely fit in with my "buds". taste "buds" and "bud"get.
that was a corny joke and i'm aware of it.
moving on..

find this stationary here

i only have one lobster thing in my closet right now, and it is a shirt from the j.crew factory store that i got over spring break. unfortunately i can't find it on the website, and i got it while on a road trip so i'm not sure if it's even still in stores but it is super cute even though the lobster is orange and not red;)
and unfortunately, the shirt's in the dirty clothes right now so i'll have to add a picture in a little bit later, but be sure to check back!

thanks for reading!
are you liking the lobster trend?

beat the heat

can y'all believe this heat?! i can't walk out my door without instantly becoming drenched. it's awful. aw. full. i live in kentucky, not in the sahara desert. what is this nonsense. yesterday my car said that it was 111 degrees. one hundred eleven!! the only way to beat the heat is to 1. stay indoors and 2. eat ice cream every chance you get. i don't know about y'all but i can go through a pint of ice cream a night. it's bad, but oh so good. today i'm going to let you in on my ice cream secrets, aka my favorite flavors/types.

1. freeze pops.  need i say more?
2. ben & jerry's ice cream is pretty much my all-time favorite brand. they have no "plain" flavors, and all of them are just pure amazing-ness. i think my favorite flavors are half baked and phish food, but of course i would eat any flavor!
3. drumsticks. these are what everyone eats poolside, because they are literally sold at every snack bar in the world. i usually don't like peanuts on my ice-cream, but i can stand the ones on these. first you start with the peanuts, then you get the chocolate, then the vanilla ice-cream, and then you work your way down to the solid chocolate at the bottom of the cone. pure heaven.
4. anything from the ice cream truck is also a good treat. unfortunately, on my street the ice-cream truck is the kind you see in scary movies. you know the ones where they kidnap the kids? needless to say, i haven't had the ice-cream truck in a while.
5. choco tacos. these, like drumsticks, are pure heaven. i had these at camp a few years back and i fell in love with them! they are so good, and they combine my love of mexican food and ice cream perfectly;) i haven't been able to find these in grocery stores, but that's probably a good thing or else i'd weigh a bajillion pounds.

of course, there are healthier ways to beat the heat, but nothing is as tasty as ice cream. ice cream is my weakness, and if i had the choice to meet the president or go to the closest fro-yo place, i would probably ask if i could take the ice cream with me to meet the president. (and don't worry i'd bring him some too).  sometimes, my mom puts an end to my ice cream eatings for the day, and if that's the case i have to resort to eating ice. i might think that i was strange by just getting a cup of ice to eat, but yesterday i saw a billboard that advertised that they "had the crunchiest ice around town". so i'm less weird now. and i might be going to the gas station soon. advertising works people.
i know this was just a rambling, but it's too hot for me to be able to think properly. i guess that means it's time for some ice cream;)

thanks for reading!

freeze pops

freeze pops are the best
seriously infest
your freezer with them, don't fret
you won't regret
they make summertime
prime time

but in all seriousness freeze pops are probably the greatest invention to man-kind. i'm talking a better invention than sliced bread. seriously, better.
yesterday i had to go to the doctor because my throat has been killing me these past few days.
once i got to the doctor's office, they confirmed that i had to get my throat swobbed and i completely lost it. the one thing that makes me cry without even batting an eye is getting my throat swobbed. i would rather get ten shots than get swobbed once. ugh it hurts and i just... i just can't deal with it.
when i was younger i wouldn't tell my parents that my throat hurt just incase there was the smallest possibility of me having to get swobbed.
so yesterday i not only had to go through the torturous acts of getting swobbed once, i had to go through it twice. it really was torture.
but there's a silver lining.
because i was crying so much, the nurse told me that if i could deal with it a second time then i would get a freezer pop. i guess she knew my weakness, and in the end i got a freezer pop.
but not just one...
after the doctors office, my mom let me go to the grocery store and pick out some ice-cream/throat soothing stuff, so i of course chose freezer pops.
out of the 24 pack that i bought yesterday, i probably have 10 left.
it's sad. i'm addicted.
if you've never tried a freeze pop what rock are you living under  then go buy some right now.
seriously, now.
